It is important to note that there are two different 010036 system errors, 010036 and 010036 - 0000XX00. System error 010036 is an ADC failure on the Main PCA that is generally caused by a Trailing cable or Carriage assembly problem. System error 010036 - 0000XX00 is a short in one or more motors that has damaged the Electronics module. Follow the steps listed in this document to accurately determine the cause of the failure and to replace the appropriate parts.
NOTE: Verify the actual error displayed on the Front panel display. For troubleshooting and accurate parts predict, it is very important to differentiate between the system error with the error data (010036 - 0000XX00) and the system error without the error data (010036).

NOTE: If Removal and Installation instructions are needed for reference during any repairs performed, refer to the CP Series Service Manual available on the Computer Care Web site for review or download.
If parts are replaced or fixed in any of the steps listed below, attempt to verify printer functionality by turning the printer on and printing internal test prints. If functionality is verified, no additional parts should be replaced.
NOTE: If the Form Feed and Cut key is not pressed when turning the printer on, the Tester PCA will not function.
NOTE: The Bail motor is no longer sent as a required part as the failure rate is extremely low and not generally required to fix this system error.
CAUTION: If the Electronics module is replaced without replacing all failing motors, the new Electronics module will be burned.
NOTE: Following each calibration, turn the printer off to store the new calibration values in the EEROM. Turn the printer on (entering Service mode) to perform the next required calibration. Repeat this cycle until all necessary calibrations have been performed.

NOTE: Continue to press both the Up arrow key and the Enter keys until letters begin to scroll on the lower right corner of the front-panel display.
NOTE: For the best results when performing the Accuracy calibration, use a Polyester Matte film. If Polyester Matte film is not available, use HP High Gloss or Heavy Coated media.
