This system error usually occurs after a Replace Ink System procedure has been performed and either timed-out or was aborted. The printer detected one or more of the ink systems as faulty or not having been replaced (indicated by the flashing squares). The message may also appear if the printer believes that a component is incorrect. The error data is as follows: 1000-Yellow, 0100-Cyan, 0010-Magenta, or 0001-Black (example YYYY=0110: Cyan & Magenta). Use the steps listed in this document to accurately determine the cause of the failure and replace the appropriate parts.

NOTE: If Removal and Installation instructions are needed for reference during any repairs performed, refer to the CP Series Service Manual available on the Computer Care Web site for review or download.
If parts are replaced or fixed in any of the steps listed below, attempt to verify printer functionality by turning the printer on and printing internal test prints. If functionality is verified, no additional parts should be replaced.
NOTE: When inserting printheads, the square on the front panel display should change to an hourglass and then a steady square if the printhead is accepted.
CAUTION: When swapping printheads from one slot to another, never close top cover window. The printer may immediately refill and contaminate the printhead(s).
NOTE: It may be necessary to power the printer off with all four ink systems' components removed. For an unknown reason, the printer might not recognize replacement of a component. Leave the printer off for 30 seconds, turn the printer back on and wait until prompted to reinstall any components.
Following each calibration, turn the printer off to store the new calibration values in the EEROM. Turn the printer on (entering Service mode) and perform the next required calibration. Repeat this cycle until all necessary calibrations have been performed.
NOTE: Continue to press both the Up Arrow key and the Enter keys until letters begin to scroll on the lower right corner of the front-panel display.
NOTE: For the best results when performing the Accuracy calibration, use a Polyester Matte film. If Polyester Matte film is not available, use HP High Gloss or Heavy Coated media.
