If the problem continues, check the ink levels (Ink System Options, Ink Cartridge Info). If any of the Cartridges report five percent or less of ink, replace the affected cartridge(s).
NOTE: If an ink cartridge has been recently replaced, replace that particular ink cartridge again to eliminate a faulty new ink cartridge from causing the error message.
Following replacement, attempt to verify. If the problem persists, continue with the remaining steps.
Open the door at the back of the right cover (as viewed from back of printer) to allow access to ISS Assembly.
Verify that the two white latches that retain the ink cartridge tube connector assembly are secured.
Verify that the air tube from the APS assembly is securely connected to the ink cartridge tube connector assembly interlock.
Verify that the clear air tubes running to each cartridge are securely attached at both ends.
Go to front of printer and remove all of the ink cartridges.
Observe if any of the two needle valves in each of the four ink cartridge locations are bent. Straighten the needle valve(s) or replace entire ink tubes assembly if needed, (refer to pg. 8-53 of the Service Manual).
NOTE:
If removal and installation instructions are needed for reference during any repairs performed, refer to the 1000 Series Service Manual available on the
Computer
Care Web site for review or download.
Perform the Ink Pressure System Test (instructions listed below).
If the test fails, replace components as suggested on display, starting with first on list.
NOTE: If printer is an
“A” model, replace the Trailing cable
during an Electronics Module replacement. Refer to pg. 8-39 of the Service Manual for removal and replacement instructions.
Perform the Ink Pressure System Test after each component replacement to verify if the problem is corrected.
Wait five (5) seconds and turn the printer on, again using the front panel power switch.
Turn the printer off using the power switch on the front of the printer.
Hold down the Color key and turn the printer on.
NOTE: Wait until the message Initializing is displayed before releasing the Color key.
Once inside the Service Tests menu, use the arrow keys to scroll to 4 Ink Pressure System, and press Enter.
The message Running APS Test will appear while the printer is performing the test.
If the test passes, attempt to verify printer functionality by printing several internal prints and checking the printer for ink leaks.
If the test fails, replace parts as instructed in Step 13 of the previous section.
Loosen the two screws that secure the left door to the Multi-Roll feeder.
Remove the two star screws (Orange) that secure the Front top-cover to the Multi-Roll feeder.
Remove six T-20 screws that secure the left side cover to the Multi-Roll feeder from the front.
Remove the seven T-20 screws that secure the left side cover to the Multi-Roll feeder from the rear.
Remove the left side cover.
Remove the right door and front top cover from the Multi-Roll feeder (follow Steps 1 through 5 of the previous section and remove the right door instead of the left).
Remove six T-20 screws that secure the right side cover to the Multi-Roll feeder from the front.
Remove nine T-20 screws that secure the right side cover to the Multi-Roll feeder from the rear.
Release the cable that is attached to the top of the right side cover.
Remove the right side cover.
