Troubleshooting stepsback to table of contents

If any of the troubleshooting steps listed below solve the problem, attempt to verify printer functionality by printing several internal prints. If functionality is verified, no additional parts should be replaced.

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Observe if error appears during initialization.
  3. If the error appears during initialization continue with step 8.
  4. If the printer prompts READY following initialization, open the printer window.
  5. Observe if error appears when the window is open.
  6. If no error appears during initialization or when the printer window is open, attempt to verify printer functionality.
  7. If error appears when window open, continue with the remaining steps.
  8. Turn the printer off using the main power switch located on the back of the printer.
  9. Remove the DIMM cover plate at back of printer.
  10. Remove and reseat each DIMM card.
  11. Turn the printer on, and repeat steps 1-8.
  12. If the error has been eliminated, replace the DIMM cover and run several internal prints to verify printer functionality.
  13. If the error appears, turn the printer off and disconnect and reconnect the Vacuum fan (the yellow connector found at the left edge of the Electronics module). Repeat steps 1-8, if problems persist continue with the remaining steps.
  14. Replace the Firmware DIMM and repeat steps 1-8. If problems persist continue with the remaining steps.
  15. If error continues after replacing the Firmware, listen for the Vacuum fan. If the fan cannot be heard replace the Vacuum fan (refer to pg. 8-11 of the 1000 Series Service Manual) and repeat steps 1-8.
  1. If fan noise is audible continue with step 17.
  2. If the error continues after replacing the Firmware and replacing/verifying the Vacuum fan, replace the Electronics module (refer to pg. 8-25 of the 1000 Series Service Manual for "A" Models) (Refer to supplement for Removal and replacement of Main PCA board in "B" Models). If printer is an "A" model, replace the Trailing cable during the Electronics module replacement.
  1. Check both rows of vacuum holes for clogging. Unclog any holes with a straightened paperclip or other appropriate tool.
  1. Perform a Calibrations Backup service calibration (listed below).
  2. Run several internal prints to verify printer functionality.
