Check that the main power switch at the back of the printer is turned on.
Turn the printer on using the front panel power switch (Stand-by button). The LED on front panel power switch should light up.
If no response from the printer, turn the main power switch off and try a different power cord (if available).
Open the top cover and trip the top cover sensor (use a piece of paper to trip sensor).
Turn the printer on (main power switch first, then the Stand-by button).
If movement or noise is detected the Front panel assembly is suspected.
NOTE: If internal printer movement or noise is detected when the printer is turned on, use the work instruction Front Panel Display is Blank, Weak, or Fading (bpp90217) to resolve the issue.
If no internal movement or noise is detected, continue with the remaining steps.
If the printer is a 1000 series plus model "B," replace the Power Supply.
NOTE: If removal and installation instructions are needed for reference during any repairs performed, refer to the 1000 Series Service Manual available on the Partner Care Web site for review or download.
If the printer is an original "A" model or problems persist following the replacement of the Power supply (for "B" model) replace the Electronics module (refer to pg. 8-25 of the Service Manual).
NOTE: If printer is an “A” model, replace the Trailing cable during the Electronics Module replacement. Refer to pg. 8-39 of the Service Manual for removal and replacement instructions.
Following replacement of the Electronics module, turn the printer on and perform a Calibrations Backup as listed below.
Turn the printer off, then on and attempt to verify functionality.
If the issue persists, replace the Carriage and Trailing cable (refer to pgs 8-44, 8-39 of the Service Manual).
Lower the printer’s Top cover and close the Printhead cleaner door (door on right side).
Perform service calibrations 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and the Carriage Height calibration (service calibration instructions are listed below).
Following successful calibrations, turn the printer off, then on and verify functionality.
With the printer turned on, scroll to the Printer Setup Menu (Icon of printer in lower right side of the front panel display) and press Enter.
Follow instructions displayed on the front panel to complete the selected calibration.
When calibration is finished, stay in service mode to perform any additional calibrations (if required).
When all required calibrations are complete, return to the main Status display using the Back key.
