Following initialization, use the Down Arrow key to scroll to the Ink system menu icon and press Enter.

The printer should now move the carriage/printheads to an accessible position.
Open the Top cover.
Turn the printer off using the main power switch located on the back of the printer.
Using a lint-free cloth dampened with water, clean the electrical contacts on the printheads and the Carriage.
When prompted, reinstall all four printheads.
NOTE: If cleaning does not resolve the issue, ensure all printheads are not out of warranty (more than 700cc's of ink consumed for each printhead, or the end of the warranty date has been exceeded). If a printhead is out of warranty, the customer must replace the printhead with a new one. Continue with troubleshooting is the issue persists.
If the error re-appears turn the printer off using the power switch on the back of the printer.
Open the right front panel of the printer to access the printhead cleaners.
Reach inside the printer and pull the printhead cleaner sled straight out until it stops and you can see the printhead cleaners.
Open the Top cover.
Pull the printhead carriage assembly out from it’s home position to gain access to the printheads.
Following initialization, insert one printhead at a time starting with the black printhead.
Turn the printer off and repeat steps 19-21 four times (once with each printhead) to determine which printhead is being reported as bad. Replace the suspected printhead(s) with new one(s) as needed.
If the error appears following replacement of all suspected printheads, continue with the remaining steps.
Turn the printer off and remove the power cable from the back of the printer.
Replace the carriage and trailing cable (refer to pg. 8-44, 8-39 of the Service Manual).
