Open the rear access panel and reseat the Firmware and Memory.
Close the rear access panel and plug the power cable back into the printer.
If the error re-appears or problems persist, turn the printer off and remove the power cable from the back of the printer.
Replace the electronics module (refer to pages 8-25 of the Service Manual for "A" models) (Refer to Supplement for Main PCA Replacement on "B" Models).
Following replacement of the Electronics module, turn the printer on and perform a calibrations backup and a pen alignment calibration as listed below.
Turn the printer off, then on and attempt to verify functionality.
If the issue persists, replace the carriage and trailing cable (refer to pages 8-44, 8-39 of the Service Manual).
Lower the printer’s top cover and close the printhead cleaner door (door on right side).
Perform service calibrations 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and the carriage height calibration (service calibration instructions are listed below).
Following successful calibrations, turn the printer off, then on and verify functionality.
At the Ready prompt, scroll to the Printer Setup menu (icon of printer in the lower-right side of the front panel display) and press Enter.
Once in Utilities menu, press the Up Arrow key and the Enter key simultaneously. You will now be in the Service Tools menu.
Follow instructions displayed on the front-panel to complete the selected calibration.
When calibration is finished, stay in Service mode to perform any additional calibrations (if required).
When all required calibrations are complete, return to the main Status display using the Back key.
In the Service Tools submenu, scroll to 8. Pen Alignment and press Enter.
If paper is not loaded, the printer will prompt for installation of paper, load as needed.
NOTE: Do not use Clear Film, Vellum, or Natural Tracing paper when performing a Pen Alignment calibration.
The printer will begin the pen alignment and display the time remaining to complete the calibration.
Following the calibration, turn the printer off, then on and verify functionality.
Loosen the two screws that secure the left door to the multi-roll feeder.
Remove the two star screws (orange) that secure the front top-cover to the multi-roll feeder.
Remove six T-20 screws that secure the left-side cover to the multi-roll feeder from the front.
Remove the seven T-20 screws that secure the left-side cover to the multi-roll feeder from the rear.
Remove the left-side cover.
Remove the right door and front top cover from the multi-roll feeder (follow Steps 1 through 5 of the previous section and remove the right door instead of the left).
Remove six T-20 screws that secure the right side cover to the multi-roll feeder from the front.
Remove nine T-20 screws that secure the right-side cover to the multi-roll feeder from the rear.
Release the cable that is attached to the top of the right-side cover.
Remove the right-side cover.
