Troubleshooting stepsback to table of contents

If parts are replaced or fixed in any of the steps listed below, attempt to verify printer functionality by turning the printer on and printing internal test prints. If functionality is verified, no additional parts should be replaced.

  1. Turn the printer off, using the main power switch located on the back of the printer.
  2. After 10-15 seconds, turn the main power switch on.
  3. If no error appears, attempt to verify printer functionality.
  4. If the error re-appears, continue with the remaining steps.
  5. Access the printheads (carriage) by initiating a printhead replacement.
  6. When the carriage has moved to an accessible location, turn the printer off using the main power switch on the back of the printer.
  1. Open the top cover and lubricate the carriage rods using the cleaning kit shipped with the printer.
  2. Move the carriage assembly from left to right several times to lubricate the entire carriage path.
  3. Close the top cover.
  4. Turn the printer on and attempt to verify functionality.
  5. If the noise re-appears, lubricate the carriage rails again (steps 5-10) and attempt to verify functionality.
  6. If the problem persists, turn the printer off, then on (accessing service mode as instructed below).
  7. Enter the Service Tests menu.
  8. Perform a Scan-Axis test. If either of the values exceed the limit (FORWARDS Maximum PWM 225, BACKWARDS Maximum PWM 230), replace the carriage and trailing cable (refer to pages 8-46 and 8-36 of the service manual).
  9. Following replacement, turn the printer on (entering Service mode as instructed below).
  10. Access the Service Calibrations menu and perform the Scan-Axis, Service Station, and Carriage Height Calibrations.
  11. Following the calibrations, turn the printer off, then on, and verify printer functionality.
